The low-bee forums have a thread going on right now devoted to the late, great Big L filled with a bunch of rare tracks that you all need to go check out. Over the past few years there seems to be some backlash building on the internet against Big L, mainly due to the fact that he had a habit of reusing some of his punchlines during freestyles. That may be the case - though considering most rappers don't freestyle at all any more, it's hard to fault him for that - but I can't think of five MCs out right now who would be on his level if he were still alive. It's crazy to think where he would be at right now had he signed with Roc-A-Fella, the rumor at the time prior to his death. Can you imagine Jay-Z and Big L collaborating on an entire album full of verses like this? If you haven't heard much of Big L before, take a minute to check out some of his music:
