Its been two months since the RIAA managed to turn a run-of-the-mill
DMCA issue into
a racketeering charge against DJ Drama, but despite the initially bleak forecast for the mixtape scene, its still managed to survive. With the wave of free mixtapes that have been released since January, from the usual mixtape DJs to actual record labels, some might even argue that the mixtape scene has actually grown stronger since Drama's arrest. As for Drama himself, he's been fairly quiet since posting bail. Aside from a couple of radio appearances, I haven't heard much from him.
On
Big Mike's latest mixtape,
March Madness Part 2, DJ Drama puts in an appearance. He doesn't really have too much to say about his current legal situation, but I figured a couple of you might be interested in this. As far as I know, its his first mixtape appearance since the arrest:
DJ Drama - The Feds Are Takin' Pictures
The mixtape itself is filled with some decent tracks from the likes of Lil Wayne, Maino, Uncle Murda and Willie the Kid. Nothing that will enrich your mind - mostly just lyrics about snitches, drugs and guns (the holy trinity of gangsta posturing) - but if you're interested in hearing a bunch of rappers talk tough, you could do worse than this tape. A couple of tracks off of
March Madness Part 2:
Lil Wayne - As One Freestyle
Lloyd Banks - Hustlaz Freestyle
