Over a year ago, I wrote about an instrumental that I had been trying to track down for years. One of my favorite beats of all time, it sounded like something straight out of a kung fu flick. I had originally heard it on Tony Touch's Five Deadly Venoms of Brooklyn mixtape and assumed that one of the djs featured on the tape had produced the beat. Little did I know that it was from a song that had been released in '96, The East Flatbush Project's Tried By 12 featuring Des. I'm sure some of you have already heard it before, but I'll admit I slept on it. Check it out, its a great song:
I recently got in touch with the producer of the track, and founder of The East Flatbush Project, Spencer Bellamy. He is currently in the process of finishing a full LP, due out in 2007. He offered to hook me up with a couple of tracks from the upcoming release, so hopefully I will be able to put that up sometime in the near future.
Here's a few mixes to keep you busy for the weekend:
My man Brian Austin Green, a.k.a. 90210's Most Wanted, hit me up with a link to L.Brazzi Presents The Day After Tomorrow Mixed By DJ Phillee Blunt. Featuring tracks from O.C., MF Grimm, Pacewon and a bunch of other solid lyricists, Luka Brazzi is offering the mix for free:

Speaking of hipster favorites, Lemon-red put up a Christmas mix. There are a few corny songs, but its worth downloading for the classic Kurtis Blow track Christmas Rappin' and Barrington Levy's Flash Your Christmas Dreads.
