With the news that The Game was about to drop a new album, "Introducing the Black Wall Street," some time in the next few weeks, it was no surprise to hear that 50 Cent was working on a new mixtape focusing on The Game. I hate to admit it, but I actually looked forward to this new tape, "Hate It Or Love It." I've given up any hope of Fifty living up to the promise he showed early on in his career, but he's usually good for a few laughs when he puts out a diss track.
After picking up a copy of the mixtape and giving it a few listens, I have to say its a bit disappointing. While the previews for it promised that 50 would be going at everyone not on G-Unit, from the Game to Puffy to D4L, there isn't much on this tape that is particularly controversial. As with most of the mixtapes that 50 Cent has put out in the past couple of years, the songs really only get interesting after he stops rapping and just talks over the beat.
What's generated the most buzz has been
the cover for the mixtape, featuring a picture of The Game photoshopped onto the body of a male stripper. There have been rumors going around for the past few years that there is a video of The Game working as a stripper giving a lapdance to a male customer. Yukmouth claims he still has a copy of the video, though noone has ever seen any of the footage. I think it would have leaked onto the internet by now if the tape existed. That's not to say there isn't some basis for the claim, as you can hear on this audio snippet from The Game's appearance on the dating show "
Change of Heart":
The Game aka J.T. brings his date to a male strip club
Now I don't really have a problem with male strippers, regardless of who your clientele is. If that's your thing, get your hustle on and get that money. Just don't try to claim that you're a gangbanging Blood later on in life.
Other than a couple of songs devoted to The Game, 50 briefly takes a swipe at Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Ja Rule. Its a pretty weak attack, though, made even weaker by Tony Yayo's final verse on the track. The rest of the tape is pretty standard 50 Cent mixtape stuff, including an appearance by Mobb Deep and a track with yet another generic beat produced by Eminem. I can't really recommend this tape, but if you are fiending for a fix of G-Unit then go pick it up
here. Here's one of the tracks aimed at The Game:
50 Make a Movie Out of 'Em
The most laughs I got from this mixtape was reading the summary, written by DJ Whoo Kid, saying that 50 Cent made the mixtape "from Lebanon, Israel." I don't expect Whoo Kid to be able to map out the entire area, but damn, you should at least know what
country you're in. You
went to one of the best public schools in NJ.
