Though I fear Stretch's brother and former Live Squad member Majesty will never get around to doing the interview that I once promised, he has stayed in touch and continues to give me updates on the Live Squad's upcoming "Tribute" album and documentary. Due out on August 21st, the album will feature unreleased material from the Live Squad, Tupac, Tupac's brother Mopreme, E-Money Bags and a few other members of the Thug Life crew. From the handful of cuts I've heard so far, I expect it will be a mandatory purchase for anyone who grew up listening to Pac and everyone affiliated with him.
Majesty passed along the first single off of the album, Hurts Da Most. A shorter version of this song was released on one of Tupac's posthumous albums under the title It Hurts the Most. I asked Majesty about the history behind it, and here's what he had to say:
'Hurts da most' was [originally] recorded for a Live Squad project. It was never finished due to me not being in L.A. at the time. Dreadfully by the time I put my verse on my brother Stretch and Tupac were gone so this is my tribute to them.
I have a post on Stretch that I plan on putting up at some point in the near future, and I do still hope to get the interview with Majesty completed eventually. In the meantime, here are links to the previous Live Squad-related articles that we've posted:
Shout out to Majesty for passing along the new song. You can hear more from Maj over at his page on ReverbNation. For more info on the upcoming Live Squad album and documentary, check out live-squad.com.
