New music from Live Squad!:
(Image: Live Squad - Heartless 2)
As I've mentioned in passing a couple of times, the Live Squad, despite never getting the chance to release an official album, were arguably the best "thug" rap group of the 90's. Before Nas and Mobb Deep came along, Live Squad, made up of DJ K-Lowe and brothers Stretch and Majesty, defined the Queensbridge sound and became one of the most influential groups in the history of hip hop. That's admittedly a bold claim to make for a group that only managed to release one official single under Tommy Boy Records, but their involvement with Digital Underground, Biggie, Tupac and the Thug Life movement put them squarely in the middle of the whole East Coast/West Coast beef and, more importantly, they handled the production on much of Tupac's best work.

The B-Side to the single that Live Squad put out, Murderahh, was a song called Heartless. Majesty recently recorded a sequel of sorts to the song:

If that reverbnation player doesn't work, you can download the song here:

Majesty is currently in the process of finalizing a couple of projects that have been in the works for years, a Live Squad DVD and a tribute for E Moneybags (who we previously discussed here). I've talked to Majesty about doing an interview and at one point a few months ago he was ready to do it, so hopefully as the release of the two tributes gets closer we can finally get that interview together.

Here's one more song from Majesty, Rapumentary, where he gives a little history on the formation of Live Squad and the troubles they went through with their record labels:
