Several months ago, my man Griff passed along a new tape from Fitzgerald, the emcee half of Griff's Chicago-based group J-Direct, called For the Loser In Us All. Despite the fact that I liked the tape quite a bit, I didn't have anything particularly interesting to write about it (and I always feel like I'm shortchanging an artist if I just throw up their mp3 with nothing more than their basic stats) so I never got around to putting up a post on it.

The album, though, is definitely worth the time to check out for those who have not already heard it. If you're unfamiliar with Fitzgerald, his delivery is rather unique, with the best comparison I can come up with being Wale (in delivery only; his lyrical content is quite different, and its unlikely you'll catch Fitz dropping continual references to $1000 Dunks). All of the production for the album was done by Griff, the man behind the tremendous remix of The Big Guns Upstairs for the Bring Me the REMIX of Zilla Rocca Mixtape (which is still available!). Beatwise, the standout track on the album is Naomi's Song. I've been playing this one fairly regularly since the day Griff first put me up on the album. Check it out:

Lyrically, the best track is Wedding Ring, offering up a surprisingly honest tale of infidelity. To hear most rappers talk about their love lives, it seems like every day is an episode of the Bang Bus for them. It's refreshing to hear someone rap about a relationship that is far from perfect.
