Though the beverage of choice has evolved over the years from malt liquor to sparkling wine - even after that whole dustup with Cristal, popping champagne continues to be the number one trend among inebrious emcees - hip hop has always been fond of filling its songs with shoutouts to various brands of alcohol. Yet despite all of the ways that rappers find to fit references to booze in their rhymes, it's rare to hear a song that deals with the less glamorous aspects of tying one on: the beer goggles, the hangover and the morning full of regrets. The Alkaholiks' Only When I'm Drunk, despite the fact that it was released almost two decades ago, remains the unrivaled champ of the ode to drunken behavior.

I'm not saying the following song, from the homie Nick Arcade (previously featured here) and his group State Champs, is going to dethrone tha Liks classic as the anthem for drunkards, but I found it to be quite entertaining nonetheless. With lyrics describing the dangers of grabbing a meal from Subway at the tail end of a bender to the beat that stumbles around like a first timer after a power hour, the State Champs' Getting Dead quite effectively captures the essence of getting drunk. Oh, and speaking of drunks, don't be this guy at your Super Bowl party.
