I'm slowly working my way back from a week long tryptophan-induced stupor, so posting may be sporadic for the next couple of days but I received a song this past weekend that I really wanted to put up. It's from an emcee out of Baltimore named The Black Sunn, who recently released his first mixtape, The Dawn of the Black Sunn.
My knowledge of Baltimore hip hop is admittedly limited - the little that I do know I learned from the Wire and that Kode Streets mixtape - but Black Sunn sounds very different from the kind of music that I've come to expect from Charm City. His style seems to be more of a continuation of the music that was coming out of New York in the late 90's than, say, the Young Leek school of rap. Peep:
If all goes according to plan, I'll put up some more music from Sunn's mixtape in the next week or two. What I've heard so far has been quite good, and it features two songs from Mydus, a producer who's been featured on this site several times in the past. In the meantime, you can hear more from The Black Sunn on his MySpace page.
