The above video, inspired by the movie The Great Debaters, is from the husband and wife duo of Tiger Lily and Jbro, a.k.a. Riders Against the Storm. Representing Providence, Rhode Island, they're one of the most politically vocal groups I've heard in a long time. While I don't fully agree with their views - without boring you all with another political rant, I'll just say that we have very different opinions on whether the current problems in the U.S. are a result of racial issues or economic issues - I do appreciate the fact that they have an actual message to spread, a message that goes a lot deeper than just chanting "Lick a Shot for Obama," or whatever hip hop's mindless political motto of the day happens to be.
I had a chance to see R.A.S. perform at Chachi's release party last month, during which they did an amazing acapella version of Speak The Truth; as much as I like this (admittedly low budget) video, it doesn't really do justice to their live show. If you want to hear more from the duo, stop by their MySpace page.
