Playdoe - Pop Like This
Ever wondered what hip hop from South Africa looks and sounds like? I admittedly hadn't given it much consideration myself prior to seeing this, the latest video from Johannesburg's Playdoe, but I don't think I would have expected anything along these lines. Made up of emcee Spoek and DJ Fuck (one can only hope that word translates to something a bit more family-friendly in Afrikaans if he ever hopes to get radio play on this side of the world, as that appears to be his actual stage name), the group skews a bit more towards the electro set than I would like, but I must admit that I was amused by the video. I couldn't dig up much information on the group itself, but I'd imagine that a black kid and a white kid performing together would be seen as something of a culturally significant event in South Africa.
