Run DMC, Kool Moe Dee and Special K on Graffiti Rock

Unless you grew up in the NY/NJ area and had access to WPIX (Channel 11) during the 80's, or you happen to be well versed in old school trivia, I'm not sure if the name Graffiti Rock will mean anything to you. For those who don't know about it, it was a short lived hip hop show first aired in 1984 - very short lived in fact, only airing one episode before getting cut from the airwaves. Hosted by Michael Holman, the manager of Beat Street's New York City Breakers, Graffiti Rock was intended to be a hip hop version of Soul Train.

The lyrics are switched up a bit, but you should be able to immediately recognize Run DMC's performance of Sucker MCs. At the 4:00 mark, Kool Moe Dee and Special K of the Treacherous Three come on stage to battle Run DMC. Classic hip hop moment.

I highly recommend keeping an eye on the dancers during Run DMC's performance. At the 2:00 mark, there's a guy in a white button up shirt performing an incredible Robot that eventually morphs into a King Tut. I'm not positive, but he looks quite a bit like Ozone from Breakin' (or possibly Borat). Later on, during Special K's performance, you can see Debi Mazar - best known these days as Vincent Chase's publicist on Entourage - rocking a powder blue leather baseball cap and a huge gold nameplate. You might also recognize the Italian guy in the white Kangol at the beginning of the show calling himself "Prince Vince" as director Vincent Gallo.
