Artifcats Reuinited (Live performance)

After watching the above video, the first appearance El Da Sensei and Tame One have done together since breaking up the Artifacts over a decade ago, I have to say that I can't remember the last time I've been this excited about a hip hop performance. The video is from the annual Rock Steady festival, held out in Newark. All the reports I've read about the show say that El and Tame are still not on good terms, only briefly acknowledging each other's presence on stage, but this is still a rather big development. Here's hoping that they have better luck at resolving their personal problems than The Fugees did, because Jersey could really use some homegrown acts right now. (Video via Amalgam Digital, who will be releasing Tame One's Da Ol' Jersey Bastard tomorrow - go cop that!)

Continuing on the theme of groups from the 90's that I would like to hear more from, here's the latest from Group Home's Lil Dap. The promo email didn't say who produced the beat on this one - I assume it isn't DJ Premier, otherwise they would have plastered his name all over this thing - but it's not too bad. I know most people dismiss Group Home as little more than a distraction from some of Primo's best work, but I can still listen to Livin' Proof straight through without skipping any tracks. And say what you want about Dap's lyrics, but at least he had a unique vocal style:

The song is off of Dap's new album, I.A.Dap, due out on August 5th.
