This week's throwback comes from Jasmine over at traktion.com, blending Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock's It Takes Two with Roxanne Shanté's Go On Girl (a song notable in part for Shanté's announcement that she was dropping the "Roxanne" from her stage name). Check it out:

The blend was included as part of an hour long dj set, which you can download over at iheartrudegyals.

While we're on the subject of Roxanne Shanté, she was on Hot 97 two weeks ago discussing the current state of her career. After she initially retired as an emcee, she went on to Cornell to earn a PhD in psychology. During her radio appearance, she announced that she had been offered a position as a professor at the University of Alabama. Certainly not the career path I would have expected for her, but I was even more surprised when she mentioned that she wrote the lyrics to the country song C.O.D. by Stevie Ray Vaughn (she's credited as Lolita Gooden), claiming that she had earned more from the royalties on that than on all of her hip hop songs combined.

Shanté is also slated to make an appearance in The Vapors, an upcoming film about the Juice Crew.
