KRS-1 - Outta Here

Did I actually cop to nodding along with a Shawty Lo track yesterday? It wasn't me! But just in case that really did happen, consider the above video my penance (as per Colorado's suggestion). To further absolve myself of my auditory transgressions, I've got links to two mixes featuring some real hip hop, from Stones Throw dj J Rocc. The first is the final installment of the Thank You Jay Dee trilogy, compiling over an hour of some of Dilla's best work:

Thank You Jay Dee Act 3 Mixed by J Rocc (direct link to mp3 via Khal)

The second mix is a companion piece to the Blue Notes Records compilation album that we talked about last week. Rocc took a bunch of hip hop tracks that sampled the Blue Notes records and blended them all together into a 40 minute display of crate digging:

J Rocc - Droppin' Science Mix

I'd imagine that getting the royalties for all of the hip hop tracks J Rocc used on here would have been a nightmare, but it's too bad they're not planning on packaging the Blue Notes album with this mix and releasing it as a double cd. I would have had no problem shelling out some extra money to get a higher quality version of this mix.

And finally, I've got one more video passed along by my man Jnota, featuring Damu the Fudge Munk giving a video demonstration on how to make a beat. Nothing too ground breaking - if you've ever made a beat with an MPC then you won't be learning a whole lot from this - but it's always interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look at a producer's workspace.
