The last time I heard from El Da Sensei, one half of the former Jersey duo The Artifacts, was over a year ago, back when Jay-Z jacked one of his beats for Kingdom Come. Since then, El's teamed up with a Polish production duo, the Returners (Dj Chwial and Little), and is about to release a new album called Global Takeover.
As most of the internet found out a couple of years ago, El and his former partner in rhyme Tame One have some unresolved issues between them that will in all likelihood prevent us from ever hearing any new material from the Artifacts. That's disappointing, as El Da Sensei sounds just as sharp on the mic as he did over a decade ago. If the rest of his collaboration with the Returners sounds as good as this first single, though, I won't have much room to complain.
For updates on Global Takeover, stop by El and the Returners' myspace page. There's not a whole lot going on there, but if you check out the Returners' main page you can hear a lot more of their music. I had never heard of them before - apparently they've done some work for Rawkus in the past - but they've got some tremendous beats up on their page.
