King Just - Warrior's Drum
I was skimming through an old Tony Touch mixtape on my way to work this morning when this track from King Just came on, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. Easily the best use of the "Schwing" sound effect in any song, ever. The drums on the track come from Billy Squier's The Big Beat and James Brown's Funky President is also sampled for part of the beat.
Keep an eye out for Cappadonna rocking a lime green sweat suit at the 3:10 mark of the video.
A brief search on google didn't turn up much information on what King Just has been up to lately. He dropped a guest verse on Shyheim's last album (back in 2005), but not much else. There's an unofficial MySpace page dedicated to King Just's old crew, the Shaolin Soldiers, where you can hear more from his '94 album Mystics of the God. Here's the link.
