Today's post requires some audience participation. I've got an old school song from my coworker Mike that neither of us have been able to identify. Judging from the barebones beat, scratched up "Freshhhh" sample and the style of rapping, this must have came out some time during the first half of the 80's. I tried googling the hook ("The new sound today - what! - is called rapping"), but failed to come up with anything. The copy of the song I have is from an old tape of Mr. Magic's Rap Attack, which used to air on WBLS way back in the day:

Unknown Artist - The New Sound Is Called Rapping (?)

Can any of you I.D. this track for me? I've got a free t-shirt (admittedly not as good a prize as the last contest we had on here, but I promise you won't have to wait two months for this one to arrive in the mail) for the first person who can come up with an answer. Leave a comment or, since most of you seem to have an aversion to the comments page, shoot me an email: mrjones AT 33jones.com.

Update: The song is Rappin' by LA Wee-Vo and DJ Felli Fell. Just Flakin' appeared on the B-Side of this record. Shout out to cutpurseboy!

Update 2: Here's the album cover, again courtesy of my man cut.
