As a follow-up to their summer release of Welcome to Realadelphia, Benja Styles, DJ Envy and JDS continue repping their hometown of Philly on their latest collaborative mixtape, Philly Love: The Spotlight is On. With appearances from Cassidy, Freeway, Beanie Sigel and Jakk Frost, this is essentially an hour's worth of drug and gun talk - broken up briefly by an unexpected Bahamadia track remixed over the Flashing Lights beat - from some of the best MCs in the city of Brotherly Love.
Other than a few new metaphors for the word "cocaine," there's nothing particularly groundbreaking to be found on this tape, though there are some decent tracks on here. What I found most surprising about Philly Love is the fact that Diddy's former errand boy E Ness manages to spit a few nice verses. It's still hard to take him seriously as an MC after his appearance on Making The Band, though.
