Image jacked from deadspin.

Ever noticed how older albums sound much better than the newer stuff? Not just in terms of the artistic content of the music, but the actual sound? Here's an interesting article about The Loudness War, a result of record labels' "progressively increasing levels of loudness to create a sound that stands out from others."

If you somehow missed it, Ludacris put out a remix for 50 Cent's I Get Money. Surprisingly, Def Jam released it for free download. Here's the link to the mp3 (divshare).

It seems a little too soon to be filming a movie based on the life of Biggie Smalls, but auditions for the lead role are already under way. Had Gravy not played himself out last year, he would have the part locked up by now. It's worth checking out some of the home submissions for a few laughs, as most of these cats don't look or sound remotely like B.I.G. Start with this one.

Collie Buddz - Blind To You (Windows Media)
Not a great song, but as I've said before I'm always checking for new reggae tracks.

Stat Quo - G.R.I.T.S. (zShare) G.R.I.T.S. stands for "Girls Raised In the South." Now you don't have to waste your time listening to this single, as the mystery behind the acronym is really the only reason to sit through this one.

Tambourine Remix featuring Fabolous and Missy
Currently the most annoying song on the radio, as far as I'm concerned. Adding Missy Elliot doesn't help matters.

Listen to Talib Kweli's new album Eardrum for free (aol).
Reviews on this one have been mixed so far, but the lead single Listen is fire. Too bad it came out twelve months before the album.

DJ Amaze - Mix for Sirius Radio (direct link to mp3 on djamaze.com)
This is a club mix geared toward the hipster crowd, but there are a few nice mashups on here including an unexpected joining of New Order's Confusion and Rick Ross' Hustlin' that ends up sounding pretty dope.

Uncle Murda featuring Wyclef (zShare)
Wyclef did a track with Uncle Murda?

Scholar from SouledOn Music put together a nice soul mix for This Is Tomorrow, highly recommended. And speaking of SouledOn, I'll be doing a guest post over there sometime soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Due to a database problem, the links for this post have been deleted. I'll try to fix that tomorrow.
