I've got a new track from Def Jux/Embedded Music's Junk Science, the Brooklyn rap duo best known for winning Scion's NextUP competition a couple of years ago. This song is off of their upcoming album Gran'Dad's Nerve Tonic, due out in October:

Junk Science - Hey!

DJ Snafu's beats remain on point, but it seems like rapper Baje One has reigned in some of his spaced-out, Stephen Hawking-inspired lyrics. Don't get me wrong, Junk Science is still nerd rap - and I mean that in a good way - but I get the feeling that this second album may be a little more accessible than their first outing for the average hip hop fan. From the press release for the album:

"In promotion of the record, and in keeping with Junk Science and (Embedded CEO) DJ Ese's love of beer, the three have teamed up with up-and-coming Brooklyn brewery Six Points Craft Ales to create a limited-release brew to coincide with the release of the album. The beer will be available in a limited bottling and on tap in bars and restaurants around NYC."

The hip hop/alcohol promotional combo never worked out that well for Roc-A-Fella, but compared to, say, holding a "presidential style debate" on BET, it seems like a great way to promote an album.
