I didn't have any good pictures to go with today's post, so here's a shot of what's going on around my way...
Some links from around the internet:
If you haven't already, go download
floodwatch's Best-Of DJ Premier mix right now.
Cooleh Mag has a great interview with Hank Shocklee, discussing Dilla, Biggie and Premier, Ice Cube and the current state of hip hop. (shoutout to
Gramz for the heads up)
Omillio Sparks - DJ Turn It Up (Windows Media). If this is supposed to be the lead single off of his upcoming album, I don't have high hopes for it. Too bad, because I think he is capable of putting out a decent record.
Cold Rock Da Spot has a feature Mark the 45 King and the rest of the Jersey-based Flavor Unit.
Speaking of New Jersey hip hop,
B Side Wins Again has an old Twin Hype track up on their site.
DJ Benzi and Low-bee held a contest for the best remix of Cassidy and Swizzy's
Drink N My 2 Step.
Click here for the low-bee thread with all of the links to the remixes. Most of them are strictly club beats, though
Cousin Cole's winning entry is pretty good.
And for those of you who like a little jazz mixed in with your hip hop, go check out
monotape.com. The mixes - and there are a ton of them available for download - are described as "a variety of broken beat, jazzy hip-hop, nu-jazz, electro-funk and house vibes where jazz is the theme along with other world beats." Definitely worth a look if you're looking for something a little more laid back.
