Over the past year and a half, we've seen made-for-tv beefs between Dipset and Fabolous, Dipset and Jay-Z, Dipset and 50 Cent, Clipse and Lil Wayne, Gillie and Lil Wayne, Ras Kass and The Game, T.I. and Ludacris, T.I. and T.I.P....the list goes on and on. So it was hard for me to muster up excitement over yet another diss track, this one coming from Montreal MC Rugged Intellect, but Biter's Block managed to do a couple of things right: take aim at several rappers that deserved to be called out, and do it over a dope beat. Sure, this is clearly an attempt to get some internet buzz going for Rugged's new album, but at least it's a good song, something most of the other recent beefs weren't able to produce.

Up until about a month ago, when Rugged hit me up with a couple of his promo tracks, I hadn't heard of this kid. The fact that he's been cosigned by the likes of Just Blaze, Pharoahe Monch, Sean Price and the D.I.T.C. crew suggests that he's doing something right, though. I've only heard a handful of his songs so it's hard for me to really judge how he is as an MC, but most of what I've listened to so far has been very good. He's got some nice lyrics, although his flow does tend to mimic Big Pun's at times (which is ironic considering the subject of Biter's Block).

Here's one more video: Rugged Intellect and Ras Kass - Next Dose

Both of those songs are off of his upcoming album, Renaissance Music: The Introduction. To hear more, head on over to Rugged Intellect's MySpace page.
