For those of you who haven't already gotten a copy, Minnesota rapper Mally (previously
featured here) has made his debut album
The Letter available for download. Ever since my man
Marc sent me a copy of it, the album's stayed in heavy rotation on my ipod, so the least I could do was give it one more promo.
A few people have said that Mally sounds like Joe Budden, and I think that's a fair comparison, particularly in the way that he's able to craft a story through his rhymes. And like jump off Joe, in between the braggadocious rhyming, Mally drops lyrics with some emotional weight to them. On one song he even raps close to ten minutes straight, a nod to Joey's
10 Minutes.
Though he needs a little bit of polish - something that will undoubtedly come as he continues to work on his craft as an MC - I would not be surprised if a record label signs him up one day. Go cop his album, I guarantee you'll like it better than any major label release that's come out this month.

Here's one of the best tracks off of the album:
Mally - The Chance
And here are a few promos I've received over the past week (all Windows Media streams):
Chingy and Ludacris - Celebrity Chick. I guess Luda and Chingy aren't beefing any more. Now how long until Chingy's sidekick
Houston makes a comeback?
Common - The People. This is about the third or fourth time I've gotten a promo for this song, but the beat's dope so I'll put it up one last time.
Young Berg, Jim Jones and Rich Boy - Sexy Lady Remix. I'm not sure what people find appealing about this song - the generic R&B hook, Rich Boy rapping to some beat other than the one that's playing in the background, Jim Jones phoning in his verse, take your pick - but it's somehow made it into heavy rotation on the radio stations around my way.
And finally,
here's a video clip from Master P's comedy skit Black Supaman. Hard to believe this cat was running the rap game at one point.
