Just got a new mixtape from Philly DJ Benja Styles, The Philly-Miami Connection. DJ Khaled and JDS (who?) share the billing on the cover, but with several Benja Styles remixes throughout the tape, its clear this is primarily a "Benja Styles Mixtape."

Though its being touted as a collaboration between Philly and Miami, there are only a few tracks from down south. And those tracks - featuring Rick Ross, T.I., Lil Wayne and a few others (most of whom aren't even from Miami) - aren't particularly memorable.

The songs that will keep you interested are found on the Philly portion of the tape, which is loaded with tracks from former Roc-A-Fellas Peedi, Freeway, Beanie, Omilio Sparks and the Young Gunz. There's also a reunion of Bad Boy refugees, Live At the BBQ 2007, featuring Ness, Black Rob and Aasim with production from D-Dot Angeletti (remember D-Dot? To hear the Bad Boy track, hit up his MySpace page).

Two of the better tracks on the tape:

DJ Jazzy Jeff and Peedi Peedi - Brand New Funk 2007
Cassidy, Beans and Fab - Benja Styles Remix / You Already Know

The three DJs have made the tape available for download via zShare. Here's the link.

For more from Benja, stop by his website. He's got some nice remixes up on the front page.

And if you haven't seen it already, here's the video to DJ Khaled's new single, We Takin' Over. (youtube link) I probably would have been upset with Rick Ross jacking Biggie's style from Hypnotize, but I got distracted once Lil Wayne's verse came on. I can't decide if its one of the worst verses I've ever heard or if he's just reached a new level of rapping that I'm not ready for. Probably the former, but I leave open the possibility that its the latter.

A few months ago, someone (SweetP?) commented that it would be hard to find a worse combination (vocally) than Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana. How about a Lil Wayne verse with Akon singing the hook and DJ Khaled dropping a shoutout over it?
