Got a couple of promo tracks for today, from Canadian-born producer Marco Polo. Best known for his work on Boot Camp Clik's Yeah, he's also produced beats for O.C., Masta Ace, Ed O.G. and Sadat X. He got his start in music production after taking the money from a student loan and using it to buy an MPC (presumably he was able to pay that loan back after the BCC work). From his bio:

" My goal is to make timeless music, make a living, make some money from it, and buy a house. This is my only skill that I feel truly confident about. I don't have any other skill that I can solicit like this. I just want to make good music and good Hip-Hop that people will listen to years from now and still feel it. I just want to keep growing as a producer. "

I'm putting up two tracks from his upcoming album Port Authority, due out on May 1st, 2007 on Rawkus/Soulspazm. Albums headlined by producers often have a tendency to sound like mixtapes with a bigger budget, but the tracks I've heard from Port Authority have sounded pretty good. Marco Polo says his goal is to make a 2007 version of Pete Rock's Soul Survivor. That's a lofty goal, but he seems to be on the right path so far.

As with the last promo tracks I got for Sean Price, I'm not allowed to make these avaible for download. So you know the deal, just use the flash player and let me know if you have any problems with your browser:

Marco Polo featuring Kool G Rap and DV Alias Khryst: Hood Tales

Marco Polo featuring Kardinal Offishal: War

One more promo track for today. From rapper MIMS, this is the first single off of his upcoming album Music Is My Savior:

MIMS - This Is Why I'm Hot (Windows Media Stream)

I find the hook on the song a bit annoying, but far be it from me to turn down free music from record labels.
