As a follow up to yesterday's post, I picked up Mick Boogie's latest mixtape,
Nas + AZ: Executive Decisions. Ever since AZ's guest appearance on
Illmatic back in '94, I had been hearing about a potential collaboration album between Nas and AZ. Its 2007 now, and the closest we ever got to that was the Firm album, which had a couple of
memorable songs, but was otherwise a huge disappointment. With AZ announcing a couple of years back that he had no intention of ever working with Nas again, it seems unlikely we'll ever get an official Nas/AZ album.
While AZ may not be willing to work with Nas anymore, he did team up with Mick Boogie to put out the
Executive Decisions mixtape. The tape is loaded with classic AZ and Nas collaborations, like
Gimme Yours and
Serious. If you're a fan of either MC then you probably own these tracks already, so the real reason to pick this tape up is for the remixes, which feature verses from AZ and Nas blended over one instrumental. Here are a couple of highlights:
On The Real 2006 (Mick Boogie remix)
The City (Hasan Insane remix)
And I must have forgotten about this, or perhaps I'm still in denial years later, but Nas and AZ did a Sprite commercial together. "Don't Hate It, Obey It. Obey Your Thirst, Kid"? Not a good look for these two. Here's the audio of that:

If you're into either Nas or AZ, you should definitely be checking for this mixtape. You can pick it up

AZ -- What's the deal
Its off of his second album,
Pieces Of A Man. Everyone I know hated this song when it came out back in '98, because it sounded too much like it was made specifically for radio play. They were right, of course -- the whole album was probably the most radio-friendly album AZ has ever put out -- but I still thought this song was dope.
