Tonight, Nas' new video for Black Republicans will be premiering on BET. This comes just a few days after Nas showed up on BET alongside Jay-Z to perform a live version of the song (see the video here). So Jay partnered with MTV to promote Kingdom Come, while Nas goes with BET for his album? Apparently, the Def Jam promo team doesn't expect Nas to have quite the same crossover appeal as Jay-Z.

In anticipation of the album, the first Nas album in a long time that I actually plan on getting as soon as it drops, I've been listening to a lot of his old stuff lately. I'm always amazed at how well Illmatic holds up every time I go back and listen to it. Here are a couple of unreleased tracks I dug up last night:

The Foulness Part 2
Death Anniversary

If you're looking for more music from Nas, EsobarTheory put out a mix of some of the work he's put out since Street Disciple. You can download the mix here.

Speaking of Nas, AllHipHop "reports":

[The mother of Nas' child, Carmen Bryan's] book claims that Nas wanted to have a menage with her and Kelis right before the pair got married. . . She claims that she sprayed Nas with mace when he cheated and he struck her when she cheated. In a strange rumor twist, Carmen claims that Kelis does not wear deodorant. I'm just trying to figure out what that has to do with anything. Is that just some womanly hate popping up? I can't call it. She also said that Nas would have dated Beyonce, but her breath stunk. More hate. She also added that Jay-Z scrubs his butt in the shower.

I notice that the book -- which I won't link to, because I don't want to encourage any of you to actually give this woman more money -- is published by VH1, which is owned by Viacom, the same company that runs MTV. Maybe that's why Nas is riding with BET for this album.
