Back in October, I wrote a post about the song Chain Hang Low by Jibbs. As I said at the time, the popularity of the song is rather troubling to me, not only because the lyrics on it are about as intricate as a D4L rhyme, but also because it has its roots in an old minstrel song. It became even more suspect when I found out that there was a good chance Jibbs (or his production team) stole the idea for the song from a trio of pre-teen sisters from New Jersey, the group 3KZ.
A couple of weeks ago I received an email from the mother (and manager) of the 3KZ sisters, with an update on the situation. As stated previously, 3KZ claim that they created their song Pants Hang Lo over four years ago. In 2004, the song was featured on one of their mixtapes and passed along to several record labels. Two years later, Jibbs released his song featuring an almost identical hook. Its now been two months since they accused Jibbs of stealing their song, but 3KZ still have not received any response from him or his managers. Not surprisingly, they have now released a diss track:

Spine Magazine has a new Cormega track up on their site: Cormega - Niggaz Frontin'. Its a good song, but if Cormega ever wants to stop being compared to Nas, he might not want to release his new music just weeks before Hip Hop Is Dead comes out.
That Dipset Christmas album I linked to a couple of weeks ago is not a joke, though perhaps it should have been. Discobelle has two of the tracks up at their site: Ballin' on X-Mas and Dipset X-Mas Time.
