With the release date for Jay-Z's upcoming
Kingdom Come less than a month away, there have been a handful of mixtapes released in the past couple of weeks attempting to capitalize on this. While there isn't really any way to go wrong with a collection of Jay-Z tracks, the best of the pre-
Kingdom Come mixtapes comes from Cleveland's Mick Boogie.
Released last week,
Superman Returns...Hov Is Back has a bit of everything from Jigga's catalog: post-"retirement" releases like his live
44 4's freestyle, some hard to find collaborations with Biggie, a few remixes of classic songs like
Allure and snippets from various interviews. While the new material, including a version of
Dead Presidents that features Coldplay's Chris Martin singing the hook and Nas dropping a verse along with Jay, has most people checking for the mixtape right now, its the remixes that make the tape worth picking up. If the steady leak of tracks from
Kingdom Come weren't enough to hold you over until
November 21st, this mixtape is definitely worth picking up. Here are a couple of tracks from the tape:

Mixtape djs aren't the only ones who are trying to make a name for themselves off of Jay these days. Jim Jones, the capo of
Koch Records Dipset, has now released two diss tracks aimed at the President of Def Jam in the past week. I'm sure its only a coincidence that he started getting vocal about Jay-Z just days before his own album drops.
First, Jim
put out the song Alarm, claiming that Jay-Z ripped off the idea for the
Show Me What You Got video from his own
We Stay Fly video. As I
mentioned before, the video for
Show Me What You Got is essentially a remake of the earlier video for
Money Ain't a Thing, so Jim's claim doesn't hold much weight.
Jim Jones' latest diss track,
Kingdom Done, features some audio from Dame Dash. Its hard to tell when Dame's audio was actually recorded (it could be a couple of years old for all I know), and while Jim Jones continues to diss Jay, Dame doesn't really mention him in the audio. Its possible Dame's reacting to the just-leaked
Lost Ones, where Jay has the line:
Heard motherf's saying they made Hov
Made Hov say, "Ok, so make another Hov"
Ultimately, Jim Jones lacks the lyrical ability to trade barbs with Jay-Z. This beef is interesting only as an example of a blatant attempt to promote album sales (though The Game is doing it a lot better than Jim these days).
