Halfway through 2006, it looked like rappers were on pace to set a new record for gun-related incidents. Things slowed down a bit after June, but it looks like we're back on track with three seperate incidents in the past three weeks.
First, Dipset member Max B, apparently tired of life on the outside after being released from prison less than a year ago, was arrested for being the "mastermind" behind a botched robbery that left one man dead. Jadakiss followed this up a week later by getting arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and marijuana while sitting in a Camry (a Camry? Diddy really did screw this guy out of a lot of money). Apparently Jada didn't learn his lesson in 2004, when he was arrested on the exact same charges.
Which brings us to the third incident, occurring early this morning, when Fabolous was shot and then arrested in New York. There aren't a whole lot of details about the incident yet (though I'm sure SOHH will fit a few updates in between their breathless coverage of the "Source Sex Trial"), but it looks like Fabo was shot in the leg after his entourage got into an argument with another group (friends of Jim Jones, perhaps?) outside of Puffy's restaurant Justin's. While heading to the hospital, Fab was pulled over by the NYPD, at which point they found a gun in his possession and placed him under arrest. Did Fab learn nothing from Puff's arrest in '99? If you feel the need to walk around the city with a gun, let your bodyguard carry it. Better yet, just stay at home in your multi-million dollar crib and avoid the wild west shootouts altogether.
