I know some of you weren't really feeling the last set of Juke tracks I put up, but I came across a few more that I feel need to be heard, if only for their nostalgic value. Mike the 2600 King, part of the Litterthugz Crew, has taken the 8-bit melodies from some classic NES games and combined them with Juke beats to create "Nintendo Ghetto House" music.

A quick refresher on Juke music, from Wikipedia: Using the template of classic Chicago House music and adding the smut perceived by casual fans of Miami Bass, it has usually been made on very minimal equipment with little or no effects. It usually features a "4-to-the-floor" kick drum along with Roland 808 and 909 synthesised tom-tom sounds, minimal use of analogue synths, and short, slightly dirty sounding (both sonically and lyrically) vocal samples, often repeated in various ways.

Here are a couple of the tracks:

Tyson's Punch Out Mix
Megaman Mix

Now, I admit this isn't the type of stuff I would normally listen to, but it brought back some good memories for me. I spent most of 1st grade blowing on those damn cartridges so I could take another shot at Mr. Sandman. Sadly, I never managed to make it all the way to the Tyson fight.

There are two other Nintendo tracks by Mike the 2600 King that you can download here.
