Quick roundup of a few hip hop-related news items:
DMX speaks out on his rape -- and he's not talking about anything that happened during his time in jail. It seems that DMX became an unwilling sperm donor for a woman in Washington, D.C. He doesn't go into much detail in the article, but I think the last sentence provides some hints about how the whole thing went down:
While his wife 'blocks out' the experience to cope, X gained a more valuable lesson: 'Turn on the light before I go to sleep,' he said.
Lucy Diamonds (who?) announces she did not sleep with Jay-Z's mom -- I never heard that rumor to begin with, but apparently it was making the rounds during the summer. In the linked video, Lucy claims she never meant to start the rumor, then proceeds to diss Jay-Z and Lady Sovereign for 7 minutes. Apparently she's been upset with Jay ever since he decided to fill Def Jam's white female rapper quota with Lady Sov instead of Lucy. In a
followup interview on XXL, Lucy drops this gem:
His diamond / Roc-A-Fella sign is really just a triangle, which represents the pyramid; a secret society. These kids are saying why you going against Hova? ItÆs not Hova, itÆs Jay-Z. He has hypnotized these people. ItÆs post subjective hypnotism. IÆm serious. Um, ok. This publicity stunt is even more transparent than the whole Game/Ras Kass incident.
Jive pushes back the release date for the Clipse album -- I knew once they went on MTV to announce that their album was coming out on Halloween that it was inevitable. Latest expected release date is December, though I'd be surprised at this point if you see it come out before New Year's. I don't think Jive will put the album out to compete with all of the other big hip hop releases that are coming out around Christmas. Pusha T, in his own words:
I hate Jive. I hate them motherfuckers. With all my heart and all the passion and my soul I hate these bitches. ItÆs about the lynching of every staff member up in this motherfucker.
Since we won't be hearing from the Clipse anytime soon, here's one of their mixtape tracks (featuring the Lil Kim
DRUGS beat):
