Continuing yesterday's theme of marginal celebrities who never should have gotten record deals and who have managed to convince formerly respected hip hop artists to work with them....

As you may have heard, street artist Banksy spent the weekend replacing several hundred copies of Paris Hilton's debut cd with his own remixed version, which included doctored images of Paris alongside sayings like, "Life wasn't meant to be fair." On the cd itself is a 40-minute track with a looped sample of Paris saying, "That's hot." Spin Magazine is reporting that Danger Mouse was the producer behind the remixed Paris Hilton track, which seems to be confirmed by the announcement on the Gnarls Barkley blog.

You can download the track from NothingButGreenLights.

You can see all of the photos inside the defaced cds on Flickr here.

And here is a YouTube video, apparently put together by Banksy, of the process he went through to recreate the Paris Hilton cd and sneak it into record stores. In the background you can hear part of the Danger Mouse track.

Ironically, yet not surprisingly, these cds that were intended to be a critique of commercialism are now being auctioned off on ebay with some of the auctions reaching prices over $1,000. Defaced or not, that's still a grand you'd be spending on a Paris Hilton cd.
