There's nothing like a diss track that comes out a full decade after anyone's heard from one of the participants in the beef. In this case we have Dinco D, former founding member of Leaders of the New School, airing out Busta Rhymes, apparently after they got into it at a club. I've recently mentioned my feelings about Busta, but I have a hard time backing Dinco on this one, if only because he doesn't bring a whole lot of heat with the lyrics here. Judge for yourself:

Back in the day, way back to 5th grade, I used to play LONS' Future Without a Past pretty much every day. Their classic Teachers Don't Teach us Nonsense! really spoke to me as a frustrated grade schooler. Busta was always the most animated of the crew, but lyrically I thought Dinco was the better rapper. Once Busta got a little shine from his appearance on Tribe Called Quest's Scenario, it seemed like he started to turn his back on the rest of the crew. I always felt bad for Charlie Brown, who in his own mind was the leader of the crew and who still looks pissed off whenever someone interviews him about LONS. Busta has said that he would be willing to do a Leaders of the New School reunion album as long as Charlie Brown wasn't involved. However, with this new Dinco D conflict, it looks like the best we can hope for is a Busta and Milo duets album.

On a related note, there's a new video of Busta on the scene of a car crash. The video is funny at first, as a clearly drunk and rambling Busta brings a video camera to the scene where some dude crashed his Ferrari into Scott Storch's front lawn. After the Ferrari owner's friend asks Busta to get the camera out of his face, Busta transforms into his newly discovered thug persona, going at the guy's wife until a cop comes over and threatens him. The cop was on a typical power trip ("We'll figure out a reason to arrest you"), but this was still not a good look for Busta, and I'm not just talking about the lime green jersey he was wearing.

If you don't already own it, go cop the first L.O.N.S. album. Its a classic hip hop album, and it still holds up well 15 years after its release.
