It looks like Pharrell's In My Mind album may actually get released sometime this year, after being pushed back at least 3 different times. While Amazon is currently listing the release date as January 1st, 2010 (apparently they got tired of having to update the release date every time it got pushed back), Pharrell and DJ Drama have just released a "prequel" mixtape to go along with the album.
While I have no doubt the production on In My Mind is going to be on point, the idea of an entire album of Pharrell rapping is still a little suspect to me, even if the Clipse are ghostwriting for him. That being said, after listening to the prequel mixtape which is filled with him rapping over a bunch of classic beats, Pharrell doesn't sound that bad. For some reason he throws in some drug talk into his raps, which I find a little unbelievable, but who knows, maybe the Clipse actually have him out on the street slanging.
