Putting up a remix of Busta Rhyme's
Touch It today. Unfortunately, I don't remember who did this remix, or even where I found it (its not the commercial remix) -- I probably found it at the forums on
GYBO, so if you recognize it hit me up. I actually like the beat better on this remix than the original version -- it still has the sample from Daft Punk's
Technologic, but its sped up and, to me, just flows better.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Bussa Buss right now following
the murder of his "jewelry handler" at the video shoot for the Touch It remix. On the one hand, I can appreciate Busta's rather high-profile support of the whole
Stop Snitchin' campaign. From my own personal experiences, I know that dealing with police is usually a lot more trouble than its worth. It seems to me that the goal of a lot of the cops around here is to get as many people into the System rather than actually solve crimes. So at least on some level, I understand his reluctance to assist the police.
At the same time, though, by most accounts Israel Ramirez (the aforementioned Jewelry Handler) took a bullet for Busta. This dude gives up his life for you, and all you do is put a quick little message at the beginning of
the video -- "You know we had to finish this video, right?" Oh really? I'd think at the very least you could just not put the video out, considering your man was killed directly because of the whole production. Busta then says he wanted the world to see that "our cause was a righteous one." What exactly was righteous about this video? You brought together a few studio gangster rappers and their thugged out posses, and your man gets shot and killed. If this video was, in fact, to promote the righteous cause of unifying a bunch of rappers, I'd say it wasn't too successful.
So now Buss has apparently been hiding out in L.A. (or possibly
Miami) to avoid being served a subpoena. Apparently he does not want to give testimony that Tony Yayo was involved in the shooting. I'm assuming this is out of some sort of loyalty to his new Aftermath labelmate, but hell, its not like having Yayo sent back to jail is going to have much of an impact on the label's bottom line.
In any event, here's the remix (without any G-Unit soldiers on it):
