Today is Nina Simone's birthday, and in celebration I am putting up a Postal Service remix of her song Little Girl Blue. They put an electronica beat under her vocals, but her voice still holds up well against the more modern background.
While Nina Simone has taken some criticism by others in the music industry for being a bit of a diva, and even her stance on racial issues, noone has ever questioned her musical talent. Even after her passing, she continues to have an influence on American music. At one point it looked like Lauryn Hill was going to be the second coming of Nina Simone, but Lauryn has continued her descent into madness and its hard to take her seriously any more.
