I was watching MTV's Life & Rhymes of Kanye West (its been in heavy rotation on MtvHits, a.k.a. MTV with Yoga ads), where Kanye basically hosts his own version of This Is Your Life, talking about his music and playing live snippets of his songs. I'm not breaking any new ground here by saying that Kanye perpetually comes off as conceited, though I thought it was funny that during one of the commercial breaks in the show there was an MTVNews segment with 'Ye where he said, "What's the point in having the Grammys if I'm not going to perform Golddigger? That's why people are watching it this year." I'm paraphrasing a bit there (though only barely), but dude didn't even crack a smile when he said this. He was dead serious.
So anyway, during the Life & Rhymes show, he starts playing A Tribe Called Quest's Check the Rhime. It got me all nostalgic (its no coincidence our blog section is entitled Beats, Rhymes and Life) and it seemed like a good time to test out the YouTube player for this site. So check out the Tribe video and let me know if any of you have any problems with the YouTube player:
