Your boy K-Fed has released the first official single from his upcoming album,
The Truth, produced by Disco D. This one is a Baile Funk track. While I thought it was bad enough when Federline decided to
exploit hip hop, things have gotten worse with his appropriation of Brazilian music. This can only set back
U.S.-Brazil relations even further.
Perhaps I'm being too hasty in my judgement, so
here is Disco D's defense of the whole K-Fed-Does-Baile-Funk situation. I don't buy into Disco's claim that K-Fed is somehow going to keep it more real than M.I.A. In my opinion, she seems quite devoted to her music and seems to have made a legitimate effort to spread awareness of the musical genres that she has sampled from, while this seems more like a passing interest for Mr. Spears.
On the plus side, the video is going to be shot in Brazil and you know there are going to be all types of eye candy in that one. We can only hope it is on par with
The Terminator's trip to Brazil. Plus, the majority of the lyrics are in Portuguese so you can always just pretend K-Fed is saying something reasonably intelligent.
