This one slipped under the radar when it was first released during the holiday rush, but even if I'm late I still can't pass up an opportunity to post material from a rapper with one of my favorite stage names: Snotty Pippen of The Highest Low. Alongside Just Wise, the Highest Low duo teamed up with fellow Windy City native Black Logic for a trip down music's memory lane and a mission statement from Pippen that a lot of other emcees would do well to follow: "My Native Tongue has tasted some remarkable flavors / I'm grateful for the music all the legends gave us / so I write with the intention of returning the favor."
Be sure to check out Black Logic's latest album, L.O.V.E., for free over at his bandcamp page. Aside from Generations, the standout track is Logic's teamup with Just Wise on Peanut Butter Pecan featuring a nice flip of a Tom Brock sample (which you may remember from Jay-Z's Girls Girls Girls).
