Bambu featuring Rocky Rivera - Rent Money

Normally being designated as a network's second best female reality star turned rapper would be something of a non-starter for Rocky Rivera's musical aspirations, but given that the network she got her start on was MTV and that the top spot is held by Heather B., the O.G. (along with Andre 'Reigndance' Comeau) of reality t.v./music career crossovers and perhaps the only emcee to ever out-gully M.O.P. on a track, it turns out that's not all that bad of a title to hold. Rivera's other credentials - her affiliation with Bambu's Beatrock label, love of Dilla beats, entertaining tumblr page, and her general anti-establishmentarianism - have made her an underground artist worth keeping an eye on, and with her guest appearance on the above Wes Anderson-inspired track Rent Money she's finally begun fulfilling some of the potential she first showed on the aforementioned Dilla track and seems to be emerging as something more than just Bambu's sidekick.

As for Bambu, he continues to hold the crown as the most coherent among the ever diminishing group of politically outspoken rappers out today (at least until Lupe realizes that twitter beefing with teenagers only serves to dilute his own politcal message). That alone is enough reason to put in an order for his new album, One Rifle Per Family.
