It may be a sign of how slow I've been grinding out posts lately, or perhaps more accurately it's a sign of how fast Mally's career has been rising, but in the time since I last mentioned the 612 area code's most talented emcee he's managed to drop a new video and a full album, and, most impressively, record a song in which he more than holds his own while collaborating with the heavyweight of Minnesota hip hop, Brother Ali. The Last Great..., Mally's latest album produced entirely by The Sundance Kid, already has two singles to its name - Shine and the above Good One with K.Raydio - but the highlight is easily his trading of verses with Ali on Unplugged, a bleak, menacing track that might best be described as this generation's She Watch Channel Zero. Check it out:
If my schedule these days allowed for it, I'd love to do a full writeup on the album explaining why The Last Great... is worth adding to your library. However I probably couldn't make a better case than Unplugged anyway, so I'll just say that there are several more songs on the album that are up to that level. You can stream Mally's full album over on his Soundcloud page, and you can download it for free over here.
Better yet, help support a worthwhile emcee by purchasing a copy of his cd over at Fifth Element Online.
