It's been about a year since I first met My Man Shafe out in Brooklyn for Has-Lo's in-store appearance at Fat Beats, and nearly as long since we first announced plans for his debut album, Who's That?! My Man Shafe! The point of no return is rapidly approaching, as we're putting the finishing touches on the album artwork and Shafe will be printing up the cds in a matter of days. The plan is to drop one more single and then officially release it at the end of the month. I've been lucky enough to hear the album in its entirety, and I'm pretty excited about the direction Shafe's taken it. Hopefully everyone else will be as impressed as I have been with Shafe's effort and its embrace of the funk and soul that hip hop is rooted in.
Before we get to that, however, Shafe recently hooked up with Clay Stiles of LP Stiles to record Things Go My Way. Stiles provides the live instrumentation while Shafe drops his signature rhymes. Check it out:
