A couple of weeks ago, Alchemist announced the
Got Raps? contest to promote his just-released instrumental album
Rapper's Best Friend 2. All aspiring emcees were invited to record themselves rapping over one of Alchemist's beats, with the best entry being awarded the opportunity to record a new song with Alchemist for Decon records. It was never made clear how the "best" entry would be selected, but after sitting through a couple of painful entries it seemed to me that it was a moot point anyway. That is until earlier today, when
Has-Lo linked to the above video from
Grover Grove, easily the best of the bunch up to this point. Howard Stern devotees (of which I am not) may recognize Grove from his appearances on Stern's radio show, but he got my attention for sounding like the second coming of
Pacewon.
