A couple of weeks ago, we put out the first official release under the Thirty Three Jones label from Philly emcee My Man Shafe. The response was surprisingly good (due in no small part to the homie Khal's post over at rockthedub and the efforts of a few of our Facebook supporters), so thanks to everyone who showed us some love. To keep you all interested until we get to the official release of Shafe's album, Who's That?! My Man Shafe..., we're offering up another single, Street Funk.

Street Funk encapsulates just about everything you can expect from his upcoming album: a heavy dose of funk grooves that showcase the unique style of delivery and energy that Shafe brings as an emcee. As I said before, and likely will say again when we put up the next single, the vibe of the album is a bit of a throwback to the true school era of hip hop when people were more interested in actually partying to the music rather than using it as an opportunity to stand around in their best emo poses. I have no idea if it will resonate with mainstream rap fans, but for anyone who's still in touch with Kool Herc's original vision for hip hop it should come as a welcome addition to the catalog. Shafe's debut album, Who's That?! My Man Shafe..., is coming soon. In the meantime, he'll be making an appearance on Zilla Rocca's upcoming Nights & Weekends EP as well as on a new project from RhymeCity's Griff and Dre Boogie. The kid's about to make some big moves so we'll be putting up more details on all of that shortly, but until then you can head on over to Shafe's twitter page to keep up to date.

And if you're in the Philly area this Friday, you can catch Shafe performing live over at Khyber Pass Pub at 9:00pm.

Finally, if you missed it when we first put it up, here's the original single from My Man Shafe featuring Zilla Rocca:
