Get Lifted - The Blackness
This is likely to be a week of brief posts, as your boy is currently hard at work putting together an airtight defense for an upcoming appearance in traffic court (apparently making a u-turn in a parking lot has become a big deal out here in North Jersey; this past weekend, a supercop actually ran into the middle of a highway to serve me with a mandatory court summons for my (alleged) brazen transgression). In any event, a recent sampling of new videos on Vimeo turned up the above from Get Lifted, a trio out of San Antonio consisting of Marcel Pean, B.Chenz and DJ Rockwell. Both the beat and the video, a black and white view of an alleyway, are rather stark, but it grabbed my attention. The second emcee on the track, B.Chenz, might benefit from tightening up his lyrics a little bit (is he advocating for or against religious bigotry on this song?) but overall I dug it.
