When Smoothe da Hustler announced that he had retired from the rap game in order to pursue his lifelong dream of renting modest Brooklyn apartments in a down market, my hope for a sequel to Broken Language seemed destined to go unfulfilled. Thankfully Zilla and his Philly compatriots Has-Lo and Curly Castro, currently operating under the collective name The Wrecking Crew, have picked up the torch on a remix for producer P.L.O.'s track The Heat, which originally featured The Highball, a pair of UK emcees.
Of this American Language remix, Zilla describes it as, "Saigon's The Letter P meets Smoothe the Hustler's classic 'Broken Language' minus the Cockney talk." Check it out:
The mp3 I put up is slightly lower quality than what The Highball are offering for free over on their bandcamp page. So if you like the song, I strongly recommend you head on over to their site and grab the real version along with some of their other songs.
And while you're at it, head on over to rockthedub to get the original, Yankee-free edition of The Heat.
