Longtime homie Chris Brown, aka He's Hers, hit me up earlier today with a song that he recorded last year with his brother Pips. As with most of the stuff I've heard from Pips, the beat is filled with samples of instruments and sounds that don't get a whole lot of play on a traditional hip hop beat. And, again as with most stuff from Pips and Chris, it's dope. Check it out:
Chris also recently recorded a song over a beat from Bless 1 that I sent him. Bless was less than enthused when he found out I leaked the instrumental, but I'm hoping I'll be able to talk him into letting me put up the track because it's killing me to not be able to share it. In the meantime, Chris continues to do his thing over in Quezon City, Philippines. With the area having been in the news recently, what with the earthquakes, tsunami and radiation that's hit neighboring Japan, I asked Chris if he had been affected by any of it and here's what he said:
"There was a scare about a cloud of nuclear radiation from Japan supposedly making its way towards the Philippines - but it was just hype that gained momentum because of text messaging."
Granted, that was two weeks ago so the situation may have changed a little bit since then but the Philippines seem to have gotten through it largely unscathed. Let it never be said that you can't learn something from reading this site!
While we're putting up music from He's Hers, here's a beat that Chris recently put together, presumably in the aftermath of the shockwaves:
