In Dan Charnas' book on the business of hip hop, The Big Payback (which I highly recommend), there's a chapter that discusses Kool Herc and his role in the birh of hip hop. Charnas talks about how Herc made his name early on by dj'ing small parties for his friends, and mentions that Herc's younger sister often created the flyers for these parties. I hit up google to see if there were any copies of the original flyers, and found the following, which seems to be a promo for one of the very first of Herc's parties:
